Matchoptic

Privacy policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

MatchOptic (“we”, “us”) publishes football forecasts, live tables and Fantasy tools. This page explains what data we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions or requests: contact@matchoptic.com.

What we collect

When you create an account, we store:

  • Your email address.
  • If you sign in with a password: the password itself is never stored – only a one-way hash of it.
  • If you sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Apple: the account id that service gives us for you and the email address it shares with us. With Apple you may choose to hide your address, in which case we receive a private relay address from Apple that forwards to you. We never see your password for any of these services, and we do not read your contacts, posts or anything else from them.
  • Your session (so you stay signed in).
  • Your favourite clubs and other dashboard settings you choose.
  • Your Fantasy team, if you play MatchOptic Fantasy.

If you subscribe, payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and billing dates; we never see or store your card number.

Our servers keep short-lived logs of requests, including your IP address, used only for security and to rate-limit abuse (for example repeated failed sign-in attempts).

Contact form

When you write to us through the contact form, we store your name, email address, the topic and your message so we can answer you, and email them to our team. If you are signed in, we note which account sent it. To prevent abuse we keep a one-way hash of your network address (never the address itself) and your browser's name. We keep a message until it has been answered and then delete it within 12 months.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how MatchOptic is used – which pages are visited, roughly how many people visit, and which features are popular. This only runs if you accept the cookie banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to two years unless you clear them or decline; Google Analytics keeps the visit data for two months. You can change your choice at any time.

Essential cookies and local storage

These are not optional – they are needed for the site to work, and are not analytics:

  • touchline_session: keeps you signed in.
  • Your light/dark theme choice, stored in your browser's local storage.
  • Your cookie-consent choice itself, also stored locally.

Translation

The translate button in the header uses Google Translate. Nothing is sent to Google until you pick a language. When you do, the page's text is sent to Google to be translated, and Google sets a googtrans cookie that remembers your language. Choosing English again removes it.

We don't sell your data

We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not run advertising on MatchOptic – the analytics above is used only to understand and improve the product.

How long we keep it

Account and Fantasy data is kept for as long as your account exists. Security logs are kept only as long as needed for that purpose, then deleted. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed except where we must keep billing records for legal or tax reasons.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete your account and data, by emailing contact@matchoptic.com.

Deleting your data

To delete your account and its data, email contact@matchoptic.com from the address your account uses (for an Apple private relay address, from the address it forwards to) and ask us to delete it. Within 30 days we delete your account, your sessions, the sign-in links to Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Apple, your dashboard settings and your Fantasy data, and confirm by email. Billing records we must keep for legal or tax reasons are the only exception. You can also remove MatchOptic from the apps connected to your Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Apple account in that service's settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
